When BYD’s luxury sub-brand Denza entered the Philippine market with the D9, it wanted to go against household names like Lexus. Now, with the B5 and B8 SUVs, it’s looking to challenge the world of premium SUVs.

In this guide, we’ll be taking a look at the bigger of the twins, the Denza B8. Does it have what it takes to carve a place for itself along the Toyota Land Cruiser and the Nissan Patrol? Read on and let us know what you think.

Variants and prices of the 2026 Denza B8

The Denza B8 is offered in two variants: the base Dynamic, and the fully loaded Premium. As we get into the specs and features below, you’ll notice that much of the equipment is standard across both trims, with the Premium edging ahead with extra features you may or may not be interested in.

If its smaller sibling in the B5 hangs around the Montero Sport in terms of size, the Denza B8 goes toe-to toe with the Land Cruiser. Clocking in at 5,195mm long, 1,994mm wide, and 1,905 tall, it’s longer and wider (but shorter) than Toyota’s own premium off-roader.

The Denza B8 is equipped with 20-inch wheels and 275/55R20 tires, with its wheelbase coming it at 2,920mm. Ground clearance is missing from the spec sheet, but it’s clear just from looking at the B8 that it offers plenty of height.

As with other vehicles of its class, the B8 has this rugged yet slightly retro vibe. It sits on the simpler side of styling, with Denza focusing on its well-defined, muscular proportions.

Most promotional photos showcase the B8 finished in a silver baby blue finish officially called Nebula Silver, but it can also be had in Alpine White, Eclipse Black, Emerald Green, and Dawn Gold.

Interior of the Denza B8

It wouldn’t be a premium Chinese offering if its interior wasn’t swimming in leather, and the B8 is no exception. The seats and many of the high-contact surfaces have been wrapped with genuine leather, with the Premium B8 getting more luxurious Nappa leather instead.

Both trims of the B8 offer seating in three rows, but one of the bigger differences between the Dynamic and Premium variants is the middle row. The B8 Dynamic gets a conventional bench that seats three, but the B8 Premium trades it in for a pair of captain’s seats with plenty of power-assisted adjustments.

Coming up to the driver’s seat, the instrument cluster is a 12.3-inch LCD screen embedded into the dashboard. Infotainment and system controls live on the central 17.3-inch screen, which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

BYD’s DiPilot ADAS suite and 360-degree camera also come as standard equipment. The B8 Premium adds a heads-up display, a night vision system, and a digital rear view mirror for a comprehensive tech package.

Under the hood, the Denza B8 packs a DMO powertrain similar to the BYD Shark 6. It’s made up of a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine connected to a 36.9kWh Blade battery with a dual motor setup. All this creates a whopping total of 603hp and 760Nm of torque.

Acceleration from 0 to 100 is a quick 4.8 seconds according to Denza. As for range, the total combined system offers up to 1,040km of cruising (or 115km purely on electric power,) with a WLTC fuel consumption of 8.8km/L.

Power is sent to all four wheels, with the Premium having front and rear electronic differential systems (the Dynamic only has the front diff.) The electronically controlled DiSus-P suspension which maximizes ride comfort comes as standard with all B8 variants, though.

As with other PHEVs under the BYD umbrella, the B8 has vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities to power external gadgets and appliances, perfect for camping and overlanding adventures.
