Here’s the latest electric two-wheeler we got our hands on recently: Meet the Ecooter E5, a full-fledged electric scooter that combines the efficiency of an e-bike with the long-distance capability of a gasoline-powered motorcycle. It’s the flagship model of the local Ecooter range, and commands a flagship-worthy price tag of P285,000.

First things first: Unlike the other e-bikes we’ve tested, the Ecooter E5 is classified as an L3 electric motorcycle because its top speed exceed (103kph) exceeds 50kph. Road operation thus requires vehicle registration, a driver’s license with the correct restriction code, and the use of a proper motorcycle helmet.

The E5 sports a sleek, minimalist design with a clean two-tone colorway. Its futuristic rectangular headlight stands out, while the sides and rear maintain the minimalist aesthetic. The large 17-inch wheels provide decent handling, and overall build quality helps ensure a smooth ride over small road bumps.

Powered by two 64V 42Ah lithium-ion batteries, the E5 generates 8,000W or 10.73 hp and 260Nm of torque. It can reach a top speed of 103kph and claims a maximum range of over 200km. Charging options include direct charging or removing the batteries for separate charging via a 220V socket. Direct charging from zero to full takes approximately seven hours.

Among the E5’s features are a dedicated battery status display, smartphone connectivity for GPS tracking and driving history, and a tire pressure monitoring system. It offers four ride modes: Sport, Power, City, and Eco.
