There’s this scene in the film Cars that has always stayed with me since the movie first came out in 2006. It’s when Lightning McQueen finally finishes repairing the main road of Radiator Springs, and the residents fix their neon signs. And all the cars go on a cruise. I distinctly remember the music—The Chords’ ‘Sh-boom.’ This song was released in the ’50s.
If you’re wondering what got me reminiscing about a song I heard from a now-iconic movie when I was 13 years old, it’s because we recently got invited by the Filling Station to its 30th-anniversary grand reopening. And in case you didn’t know the place or have yet to see this diner-inspired restaurant in Poblacion, the Filling Station celebrates anything and everything about the good old days.
For its 30th anniversary on November 30, multiple vintage cars were brought out and parked in front of the establishment. We have photos below in case you missed the small vintage car show. You’re welcome. In any case, the Filling Station has tables built into classic vintage cars that you can request for. And then maybe you’ll have a ’50s song stuck in your head for days, too.
