The Ford Ranger has seen all kinds of terrain—it’s a popular city car with powerful off-roading capability. And with all of that, the Ranger still upholds its pickup heritage with a huge payload capacity on a five-foot bed.
Earlier this month, the Ford Ranger saw a new, peculiar environment: the Quezon City Public Library. It is a bit odd to see a couple of bright blue pickups in a place where silence and tranquility are upheld, but Ford Philippines came bearing gifts.

FPI, together with the Library Renewal Partnership, filled two Rangers with boxes upon boxes of books to be donated to the QCPL. After turning over the donation, FPI and LRP arranged a storytelling activity for the kids at the library.

As any Ranger owner would expect, the pickup hauled the books with ease, and even managed to accommodate a few bookworms, too (don’t worry, they just hopped in the bed for the photo). We started our drive at Manila Boat Club, where we met with LRP to load up the books. Right after, it was off to the QCPL.
Even with a bed full of books, the Ranger drove as smoothly as it usually does. And we have to admit, there is a certain kind of pride you feel when you’re in a pickup with a fully loaded bed. There was just something right about it.

These types of drives are what pickups are made for. Back in its roots, pickups like the Ford Ranger carried tools, supplies, and other materials needed to build houses, hospitals, and libraries. While we did carry the books, you could probably haul an entire library’s worth of materials in a Ford Ranger—in multiple trips, of course.
While the drive was emotionally enjoyable, when we arrived at the destination and saw the books unloaded, another wave of relief and satisfaction flew over us and the blue Rangers. These books will go a long way for the kids, and hopefully will encourage more kids to pick up a novel and start an interest in reading. It almost made us want to load up the trucks again and make another delivery.
