Ford Philippines is finally getting into the growing local electrified vehicle scene with the introduction of its refreshed Territory, a model that’s now offered exclusively as a hybrid. For this spec-sheet brawl, we’ll be pitting the new P1.599 million Ford Territory Titanium X Hybrid against BYD’s popular P1.548 million Sealion 6 DM-i.

These two electrified SUVs have different types of hybrid systems. The self-charging Territory Hybrid has a 148hp 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline mill and a 215hp electric motor with a 1.83kWh battery, it can run in EV, series hybrid, or parallel hybrid modes depending on the situation. The Sealion 6, meanwhile, is a range-extended hybrid motivated by a 194hp electric motor with a large 18.3kWh battery. Note that the BYD’s 105hp 1.5-liter gas unit acts as a range-extender generator most of the time but has the ability to work in conjunction with the electric motor in certain conditions. On a full charge and a full tank of gas, the Territory Hybrid has an estimated range of up to over 1,000km while the Sealion 6 has a range of up to 1,100km.

While often times overlooked, the Territory Hybrid actually comes with a space-saver spare tire. Unlike its Blue Oval rival, the Sealion 6 comes with a tire-repair kit. Interestingly, there are a lot of similarities between these two electrified SUVs, both have all-independent suspension, both come with 19-inch alloys shod with 28.3-inch-diameter 235/50 R19 rubber, both come with a panoramic moonroof, and both have power liftgates.

In the safety department, both get a long list of safety features that include six airbags, ABS, electronic stability control. Both electrified SUVs also come with a suite of ADAS features and a 360-degree camera.

The Territory Hybrid’s infotainment system has a 12-inch touchscreen, while the Sealion 6 has a rotating 15.6-inch touchscreen. Apple Carplay and Android Auto are standard on both vehicles. The Ford is equipped with 8 speakers while the BYD has a total of 10 speakers.

Since these are SUVs or crossover SUVs, lets talk about ground clearance. The Territory Hybrid has a decent 185mm ground clearance, this is 12mm more than the Sealion 6.

Each vehicle has its strengths, and we know picking one is not that easy. We’ve put together the specs for these two sports utility vehicles below to help you decide. Let us know which of these electrified compact SUVs you’d rather take home, or better yet, take out on an adventure.
