Honda Cars Philippines (HCPI) got real busy to start the second half of the year. It just opened July with back-to-back launches of the Brio and City, two of the currently most popular Hondas in the market right now.
For this update, Honda gave its beloved subcompact sedan some hefty tech upgrades to go along with a few design tweaks. How will it fare in the segment now that it’s been revamped with Honda Sensing features? Let’s find out.

Variants and prices
Four variants of the City are available at launch, starting with the base E trim—a new addition to the lineup—and its P973,000 price tag. The top-spec RS variant costs P1.128 million.

Exterior
The new City measures 4,580mm long, 1,748mm wide, and 1,467mm tall with a 2,600mm wheelbase. Ground clearance is listed at 134mm, and curb weight ranges from 1,106kg to 1,124kg depending on the variant.
Color options come aplenty. Meteoroid Gray Metallic is available across the range, Lunar Silver Metallic and Taffeta White for the S and E variants, and Platinum White Pearl and Obsidian Blue Pearl for RS and V trims. Save for the base E variant, Ignite Red Metallic is also available.
The City also comes available in 16- or 15-inch alloy wheels, with varying finishes depending on the trim.
You can also spec your City with Modulo parts that, of course, come at an added cost. The kit—photos of which are added at the bottom of this article—includes front, side, and rear under spoilers, a trunk spoiler, and the 16-inch alloy wheels.

Interior
As with the exterior, the City retains most of its cabin as well. Same dashboard layout, same center console. The RS variant does get new-look leather seats and sport pedals. This trim also boasts new dark red garnishes and high gloss black accents.
In case you have to ask, legroom and headroom available in whichever seat of the City remains the same.
Engine and specs
The new City has a familiar engine under the hood. It gets the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated gasoline engine from the pre-faclift model. This generates 119hp at 6,600rpm and 145Nm of torque at 4,300rpm. This can only be had with a CVT.
This car’s suspension setup is comprised of MacPherson struts up front and a torsion beam at the rear. Front ventilated disc brakes and rear drum brakes handle stopping power.

Extra features
Extra amenities include a new 4.2-inch instrument cluster with red accents for the RS variant. This is paired with an eight-inch touchscreen display (unavailable in the base variant) that supports Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay connectivity.
The biggest addition to the new City is the Honda Sensing suite of safety features that’s now standard across the range. The list of tech includes adaptive cruise control (without low-speed follow), a collision-mitigation braking system, lane-departure warning with lane-keep assist, road-departure mitigation, auto high beam, and lead car departure notification.
