Typhoon Glenda

As you know, a strong typhoon called Glenda passed through Metro Manila this morning. She was so vicious she effortlessly uprooted and toppled trees--including this big one in Magallanes in Makati City. These photos were taken by readers and friends who (we assume) live in the area.

One look at the above photo and you can't help thinking: How in the world do you extricate that poor Toyota Corolla from underneath that humongous tree trunk?

Well, the answer can be found in the photos below. The responding team of men (bless them) cut the trunk and its thick branches piece by piece. Which makes sense. Because unless you're friends with Optimus Prime and can summon him at a moment's notice, there's just no way you can cart that colossal tree away from its crushed victims.
