The Nissan Terra isn't the only fresh midsize SUV on the block. Though it isn't an all-new model, the Isuzu MU-X's 1.9-liter variants, which were introduced to the Philippine market just a couple of months ahead of the Terra, have a couple of significant updates to offer, too.
With a smaller displacement and decent output, Isuzu's new RZ4E turbodiesel engine provides consumers with more flexibility when it comes to narrowing down their needs and managing their budget. It's a pretty big deal. Even more so when you take into account the amount of worthwhile choices available in the midsize SUV segment. But can it take on the hype the Terra has brought along with it?
There are a few glaring differences. For starters, the Terra's 2.5-liter diesel mill trumps the RZ4E in terms of power, and it packs more airbags than the Isuzu, too. But the MU-X is equipped with disc brakes on all four wheels, and is more affordable than its Nissan counterpart. Clearly you can't just make a decision based on each one's release date.
If you happen to be having trouble choosing between the two new midsize SUVs, maybe we can help. Below is a spec-by-spec rundown of each model's base automatic variants. Let us know in the poll below which one you would choose.
