Just as the cool kids migrate between brands of school shoes or rucksacks, in a similar fashion it has been decided that Le Mans Ultimate is the driving sim of the moment. It’s in vogue, enjoying healthy player numbers and lots of packed race servers.
That means plenty of chance to appreciate Ferrari’s all-conquering 499P, and, well, plenty of chance to contemplate tire deg, fuel consumption, life, your exes, and all your still-in-progress DIY projects, because endurance racing keeps you in the seat for a while, turns out.
While the game has offered co-op 24-hour races against AI opponents for over a year now, online multiplayer events of the same duration have been off the menu. Previous tests from developer Studio 397 revealed issues with server lag and the inability to rejoin sessions after dropping out, which would presumably have been utterly heartbreaking for the sleep-deprived users who reported it.

Aiming to iron out those creases and bring 24-hour multiplayer race functionality to the race roster, LMU is running another test event from February 17 to 28. The team has apparently made numerous improvements since the last test in November, including increasing the server bandwidth by ten times.
