The year 2015 was a pretty eventful one for me for two main reasons: The first is that this was when I’d landed a full-time job with Top Gear Philippines. And the second is, well, Mad Max: Fury Road hit theaters that year.
Now, I know that many other car guys treat the latter bit with high regard as well. Fast cars, great driving, insane stunts, amazing characters, and a great script? It’s not every day a motoring film comes together like this, let alone gets nominated for Best Picture at the Academy Awards.
If you’re a fan of the movie like me, you’ll probably be stoked to know that its most iconic cars are going up for sale over in Australia via Lloyd’s Auctions.
The extensive list of Mad Max: Fury Road rides up for grabs include the War Rig, Nux’s car, the Caltrop Ed Dorado, and the Ratrod Chevrolet buggy.
Our personal pick? Probably the Doof Wagon. You’ll probably recall this one as the massive truck strapped roof-to-wheel with speakers and amplifiers. Its listing reads: “The wail of the banshee, the distorted lick and demented, driving bass, the call to arms and the baying for blood, all music to the ears and grist to the mill, a symphony, a song, a single scream, the soundtrack to the end of civilization.”
Imortan Joe’s Gigahorse, arguably the most iconic ride in the film, is also up for sale. The Frankenstein 1959 Cadillac Coupe de Ville runs on massive double rear wheels and is powered by twin V8s “capable of harnessing and harmonizing the ultimate power of the ultimate leader.”
