In case you haven’t been paying attention to the news, Ramon Ang has been a pretty busy dude over the past few months. But in between keeping the country’s roads in check, modernizing our expressways, and helping out during the COVID-19 pandemic, somehow, someway, the busy executive still manages to find time for one of his biggest passions outside his business empire: his cars.
In an interview with CNN Philippines’ The Exchange, the San Miguel Corporation boss shared that checking up on and tinkering with his beloved rides is part of his daily routine, following a morning cup of coffee and preceding a review of all the day’s important tasks. He says that this activity helps him start a day on a positive note.
“I have lots of very old cars...the most enjoyable cars are—for example, if it’s a sports car, you want the ’60s Ferrari, they are the best,” the 66-year-old CEO said. “So those are the things I tinker with every weekend or every morning.”
Ferraris, huh? We like this man’s taste. Ang also added that even the simple act of getting behind the wheel for a short drive brings him joy. “If I need to, I drive around the village. Happy na ako.”
The tycoon also shared that besides his cars, he likes bonding with his grandchildren who live nearby, as well as spending time in the kitchen to cook his favorite dishes.
We know maintaining work-life balance can sometimes be easier said than done, especially for the people who are now working from home, but the next time you’re feeling all caught up with work, remember that it’s important to spend time focusing on your passions as well. Hey, if the head of one of the country’s biggest business empires can make time for his rides, perhaps we can, too, right? Just a thought.
