When it comes to old cars, things aren’t often as simple as they appear. A car that seems to run smoothly, for example, may have already been flooded in the past. Just ask our guy Anton Andres—he might know a thing or two about that.

Now, in the case of the Ford GT in the pictures here, it may look clean (sort of) on the outside and seem like it just needs a good wash, but it holds a lot of secrets inside. This supercar was actually abandoned for five years and was brought into the Ammo NYC garage to get some TLC before it goes up for sale.

We regularly see Ammo NYC’s Larry Kosilla revive old, beat-up, critter-infested cars, but many of us have probably never seen something as rare (only about 4,000 of the first-gen model were built) and special as the Ford GT in this bad of a condition. The story here was the original owner passed away, and the family “had other priorities.” Fortunately, the family wants the car restored before it’s rehomed.

This Ford GT wasn’t as bad as the other mouse-plagued vehicles like this Subaru Forester or this old Pontiac that we’ve seen on Kosilla’s channel before, but it’s also still in pretty rough shape. There were just a ton of acorns and mouse poo and urine all around the interior, and the car needed quite a few washes before it was completely rid of all that junk.

Apart from the washes, the headlights were also restored, the wheels repainted, and the tires replaced before mechanics had a go at the engine bay. Shortly thereafter, the GT was back in roadworthy shape.

As a nice bonus, Kosilla had none other than Doug Demuro—apparently a Ford GT owner himself—come over to see and try out the newly restored car. Anyway, we’ll just leave you to it. You can watch the entire episode below. We’ve got a good one here, folks.
