Base model vehicles needn’t be bare. Need proof? Then check out the Toyota Fortuner’s 2.4 G MT variant.
Not only is it the most affordable Fortuner in Toyota’s lineup (P1,413,000), it’s also the only one that comes with a manual transmission. If you imagine you’d enjoy having every bit of control over the vehicle’s capable 2.4-liter diesel engine (147hp and 400Nm), then it’s a no-brainer.
You’ll also be glad to know that Toyota hasn’t scrimped on the interior. There’s a light, tan color scheme, nice plastics, intricate stitching on the dashboard, and a meaty steering wheel that's nice to hold. There’s a touchscreen infotainment system in there, too.
So, if you can do without 4x4 performance or a high-end cabin, this variant might still be worth checking out. Despite less niceties, it’s definitely still a capable midsize SUV. Not bad for a base model, right?
