We’ve featured a fair bit of Nissan Urvan models being turned into campers, mobile offices, or simply homes away from home. But a company called Vantech takes that a step further.
Vantech is a Japanese company that turns vans into proper mobile homes. In this case, the company has chosen the Nissan Urvan as one of its ‘entry-level’ models.

Now dubbed the Astrare CC1, it still retains the front cab of the Urvan, but the rest of the body has been extensively modified. For starters, the rear section is more upright, adopting a more box-like shape for more room inside. Its roof is also much higher than that of the standard Urvan.
Despite the more imposing appearance, it’s still under five meters long so parking it shouldn’t be too much of a challenge. It’s just over two meters wide, too, about the same as the Urvan Premium. That said, we’d be wary of low-lying tree branches.

Rather amusingly, the Astrare CC1 retains the Urvan’s sliding door function. There’s also a ‘trunk’ at the back that serves as extra luggage space. A pair of 75-watt solar panels are mounted on the roof, while the acrylic double window can also swing open for fresh air.
Inside, there’s room for six people, says Vantech, along with a wood motif for a cozier, more home-like ambiance. It comes equipped with an on-board air-conditioning, while entertainment is provided by a 15.6-inch flip down monitor and a Creative sound system.

The center section of the camper sees its living room that’s also convertible into a bedroom or dining area. Right beside it is the mini kitchen, along with an abundance of storage spaces. The multi-room at the back can be used for various activities, although it comes at the expense of a shower. Well, Japan does have its fair share of hot springs.
There was no mention about the engine, so it’s likely the standard ones from Nissan. There’s a choice between the 2.0-liter gas engine or the Mitsubishi-sourced 2.4-liter turbodiesel. There’s also the option of two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive.

Prices start at ¥12,907,000 for the two-wheel drive gas-powered model. The diesel model retails for ¥13,654,000, while the diesel 4WD is at ¥14,032,000. Converted to local currency, that’s approximately P4,814,000, P5,100,000, and P5,234,000, respectively.
