A closer look at the monstrous new Honda Civic Type R

The current generation Honda Civic is all kinds of badass. It looks good, it's fun to drive, and it encapsulates everything we love about the nameplate. That's why it was our Car of the Year in 2016. Now imagine if that car got bumped up to 316hp and 400Nm. Then you'll begin to understand why we're so damn excited about what's featured in this video. 

Introducing the new Honda Civic Type R, fresh from the 2017 Geneva International Motor Show. If the all-new Civic is a sleek and suave looker, then this car sheds any semblance of that subtlety. Instead, it looks like a wild beast ready to devour anyone game enough to drive it. It's got all sorts of new bits to aid aerodynamics, a stiffer suspension, and a gigantic spoiler that screams street race readiness. Adding to the craziness is a triplet of exhaust pipes in the rear. Oh, and it's mated to a slick six-speed manual gearbox.
