When you mention Volvo to the average gearhead, there's usually one adjective that springs to mind: safe. The Swedish carmaker has carved out a reputation for making some of the safest and feature-packed cars in the world. And while you never, ever want to crash your car, your chances of surviving inside a Volvo are just that much better.
That same adjective, however, can conjur up another kind of visual: boring. Safe means it's reliable, but the label can also sway people into thinking that a car isn't capable of getting your pulse racing. Not so with the all-new XC90. Yes, it's a Volvo, and yes, it's as safe as they come, but it's still a fun vehicle to drive. Under its hood is a 2.0-liter twin-turbo diesel, and believe us when we say that it packs quite a punch.
