With today's pickup trucks becoming larger by the generation, it wouldn't be surprising if one day, these rigs would be able to carry a small super mini on their beds. Well, it looks like that day has arrived. Check out the extreme Nissan Titan Hauler XD project truck.
Developed by Quebec-based Motorsports in Action (MIA), the Nissan Titan Hauler XD is essentially a pimped-out full-size pickup that is able to haul a Nissan Micra Cup racer. Naturally, a bit of modification was in order for this to happen.
The transformation begins via an electro hydraulic pump that is attached to the Titan XD's pickup bed. This is where the little Micra will be placed while being transported. To make loading and unloading a breeze, a cylinder-driven pump moves the platform up and down, forward and backward. It's pretty much like a flatbed trailer, except this time, it is on a full-size pickup truck.
No worries that the Nissan Titan XD will break down once it feels the weight of the Nissan Micra Cup car. On the contrary, the already impressive 1,176kg payload of the standard Titan has been doubled, thanks to strategic placement of chassis and suspension reinforcements. In short, it should be able to carry the Micra without breaking a sweat.
The Nissan Titan Hauler XD was presented at the final race of this year's Micra Cup, held at the Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Ontario. Too bad we didn't get to see it in the metal. Good thing there is a short video that simply makes us watch in awe.
