G-Shocks and Land Cruisers are two of our favorite things here at the Top Gear HQ, so this latest collaboration between Casio and Toyota has rocketed high up on our list of wants.
This is the G-Shock Mudmaster GW-9500TLC-1, a limited-edition timepiece that celebrates Team Land Cruiser (TLC) Toyota Auto Body’s 11th consecutive victory in the Stock category of the 2024 Dakar Rally. At this year’s event, two Toyota Land Cruiser 300 GR Sport rally cars took a one-two finish after going through extreme conditions across 10,000km of desert sands.
Based on the Mudmaster GW-9500, this TLC edition has a sand-colored band with a black splatter pattern that mimics the look of tire tracks. The blacked-out bezel features red accents, and the front button guard gets a copper-colored IP coating. TLC’s logo adorns the strap and the case back, and also appears on the LCD when you turn on the LED backlighting. Speaking of the LCD, it has what Casio calls a duplex construction, with the top layer being a dedicated graphical compass display and the bottom layer for large measurement and time displays.

Of course, this watch is expected to be as tough as the Dakar Rally-winning Land Cruiser from which it draws inspiration.
