Last year, BMW Motorrad made waves at the Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori (EICMA) after it unveiled its lightweight GS concept. Now, a year later, the concept has become a reality.

This is the F450 GS, the brand’s new entry-level adventure bike. In Philippine-speak, a smaller but still expressway-legal GS. This is why we have more reasons than most to be excited about this bike.

Design-wise, it seems almost unchanged from the concept we saw in 2024. It still has that proper ADV look, with signature GS colors, a windshield up front, and a beak protruding from the headlight. Speaking of which, it also sports a modified version of the new GS light signature with the X mark up front, which is also why it looks very much like a smaller sibling of the F800 and F900 models.

The F450 GS is powered by a 420cc liquid-cooled, twin-cylinder engine with a 135-degree crankshaft. This power unit puts out 48hp at 8,750rpm and 43Nm of torque at 6,750rpm. The relatively smaller engine also improves the power-to-weight ratio, with the F450 GS listed at just 178kg. Fuel economy, meanwhile, is listed at around 26km/L.

Up front, the F450 GS gets KYB USD forks, while the rear features a KYB central spring strut with double-swingarms. In the higher variants, a ‘sports suspension’ is available, with adjustable rebound and compression damping. Seat height is listed at 845mm as standard, but can be raised to 865mm for the high Rallye seat.

There’s a 6.5-inch TFT display as standard with Pure Ride Screen and Sport Screen mode available. BMW Motorrad ABS Pro is equipped, along with dynamic brake control, dynamic traction control, and engine drag torque control. The F450 GS also gets three ride modes.

The F450 GS comes in different trims, all off-road-oriented but with varying amounts of tech and equipment. In true GS fashion, the Trophy variant sits atop the range with all the bells and whistles.

We won’t even try speculating whether or not this will land in the Philippines—judging by how soon we’ve gotten the new BMWs in the past, we’re already expecting this to arrive here sooner rather than later. Besides, if it’s priced right, there’ll be a big market for it. Can you imagine buying a bike with the BMW badge but without breaking the bank? Well, now we can.
