BMW Motorrad’s electrified models, before they were manufactured, were first released as concepts. When we first saw the CE 04 and CE 02, we didn’t know then whether or not they’d actually make it to the production line. Well, we all know they eventually did.
Now, the German brand has yet another new concept on its hands: the BMW Motorrad Vision CE. This time, we’re really curious to see what the final product will look like. If and when they decide to build it, that is.

See, it’s quite the interesting concept. It bears similarities to the CE 04, but it has...a frame. As in steel bars protruding upward from the scooter. It’s the modern-day version of the C1, BMW’s quirky ‘enclosed scooter’ that allowed people to ride without any helmets or protective gear.

The metal tubes you see in the bike are actually the ‘cage,’ which, together with the seatbelt, “ensures a safe and emotional riding experience without the need for a helmet or the usual protective clothing.” We don’t know about the ‘emotional’ part, but we’re also more unsure about the ‘safe’ one.

BMW does say the Vision CE has a balancing function, which basically enables the vehicle to stay completely balanced when stationary. But still, until we actually see it and try it out, we can’t really say if using something like this without even a helmet would be a good idea. We always put utmost importance on safety here at Top Gear Philippines, so we’ll always advise against riding any two-wheeler without any gear.
Then again, who knows? BMW was onto something with the C1—maybe this might turn out to be even better. But of course, they have to actually build it first before we find out.
