The Ford EcoSport’s 1.5-liter engine can now be had in a top-of-the-line EcoSport package.

Ford Philippines has announced that the subcompact crossover is now available in a new 1.5L Titanium AT variant. When the car was launched in August 2018, top-spec Titanium variants only came with the American carmaker’s 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine.

The new variant pairs the 1.5-liter Ti-VCT gasoline engine, which is capable of up to 123hp and  150Nm of torque, with Titanium features and trim: smart keyless entry, a power sunroof, parking-assist features, six airbags, and a Ford Sync 3 infotainment system. The engine is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission.

The Ford EcoSport 1.5L Titanium AT carries a price tag of P1,098,000—still considerably cheaper than the 1.0-liter EcoBoost Titanium AT, which goes for P1,188,000.

“The Ford EcoSport remains one of the country’s favorite SUVs with its quality design, rugged capability, best-in-class features, superior fuel economy, and great value for money. With the introduction of this new variant, we are giving our customers another option to enjoy the mini-SUV and its street smart capabilities,” says Ryan Lorenzo, Ford Philippines assistant vice president for marketing.

“The EcoSport 1.5L Titanium combines the performance of a new powertrain and the segment-leading features of the Titanium variant to provide a differentiated urban driving experience that only the EcoSport can offer.”

Will the new variant’s price tag attract buyers who are otherwise hesitant to go all-out for the more expensive EcoBoost variant?
