Last week, Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) hinted that “something big” was set to be unveiled on July 25, 2020. Rumors have since been going around that the big reveal will be a new Vios. Well, guess what? TMP has now sent the official invite for the upcoming digital launch, and we can finally confirm those rumors.
For now, confirmation of the new Vios’ arrival is all we have, as no details about the vehicle have been revealed just yet. That said, we at least have a sneak peek at the popular sedan’s new face.
From the short clips that TMP shared through its Facebook page, we can see that the Vios has been given a new grille—it looks a lot more similar to the Corolla Altis now. If you haven’t seen it yet, you can check out the most recent teaser below.
Assuming that this isn’t a full model change, the Vios will likely see no changes under its hood. If that’s the case, then the car will still have two engine options: A 1.3-liter mill that generates 98hp and 123Nm, and a slightly bigger 1.5-liter powerplant that’s capable of 106hp and 140Nm. These will be mated to either a five-speed manual gearbox or a CVT.
Do you like what TMP has shown us so far?
