Purists may not like it, but the BMW M division has well and truly embraced electrification. We’ve seen it with the XM and higher-powered versions of the iX and i7.

Some of these have made their way to the Philippines, and now, the electrified M Power range gains a new model. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the BMW i4 M50i.

The M50i is the most powerful version of i4, at least for now. While not a fully-fledged M, it does get significant input from the in-house performance division. It also comes with bespoke styling details that set it apart from the standard i4.

From the outside, the i4 M50 comes with a more aggressive set of bumpers, each with a deeper apron and diffuser. The wheels are unique to this model, and a smattering of M badges remind everyone that it’s no ordinary i4.

Inside, there are deeper bucket seats to hold the front occupants during, um, vigorous cornering. Subtle M details are also seen inside, namely with the steering wheel and the brushed aluminum trims. Meanwhile, the blue highlights are a reminder that this is a BMW i model at its core.

Also unique to the car is its suspension arrangement. While not as low as an M4, it sits lower than the standard i4. Its dampers and spring rates are tuned more towards sharper handling, and the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires should help it around the bends.

Now, for the exciting part, the powertrain. The BMW i4 M50 comes out swinging with a pair of dual electric motors. Each of these power the front and rear axles, giving it all-wheel drive. In this case, the folks from the M division tweaked it for a more dynamic driving experience.

For power, we’re looking at 537hp and, wait for it, 795Nm of torque. With numbers like that, it pulls up some pretty impressive numbers. It can do the 0 to 100kph sprint in just 3.9 seconds and 0 to 200kph in 13.2 seconds. Top speed is limited to 225kph.

As for the battery, the car keeps its motors running care of a 83.9kWh battery. It has a charge rate of up to 200kW, meaning a 10 minute charge can get you an extra 160km or so. The large capacity also yields a range of up to 503km

The 2024 BMW i4 M50 is available in one variant and retails for P5,990,000
