2025 is shaping up to be a great year for full-sized SUVs. General Motors gave the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade heavy updates this year, while Nissan finally unveiled the first all-new Patrol in 14 years. Now, it’s Ford’s turn to bask in the limelight.
That said, about a month ago, the new Lincoln Navigator premiered and highlighted what the Ford Motor Company can do with its land yachts. It was only a matter of time before its more mainstream counterpart, the Expedition, would debut with significant changes.

Well, that time has come. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the 2025 Ford Expedition. Ford does insist on calling it all-new, but as far as we can tell, it still rides on the same chassis as before. However, it has been extensively reengineered to keep it bang up to date.
But you wouldn’t think that when looking at it from the outside. For the 2025 model year, the Ford Expedition gets a mostly redesigned exterior. The middle section is still identical to the previous model, but the rest of the body gets major changes.

The new front end now boasts Ford’s current design language for pickups and SUVs with its C-shaped headlights, larger grille, and new bumpers. The hood and fenders have also been changed to accommodate these design tweaks.
At the back, the tail lights have been repositioned higher and now comes with a split tailgate. There’s also a new bumper to go along with all the major changes made to the rear end.

There’s also a major overhaul on the inside. The 2025 Expedition gets a new wraparound cockpit similar to the Lincoln Navigator. It also gains with widescreen instrument cluster, a major infotainment upgrade, and a rearranged center stack and console. Ford even went as far as giving it a new steering wheel design that we could see in the company’s future pickup and SUV models.

Ford added neat features in the cargo area of the new Expedition. Aside from the split tailgate, there’s an optional extra called the Cargo Tailgate Manager. It allows the section of the cargo floor to turn into a bench or turn the area into a serving table. Even more power outlets were added at the back.

As always, the Expedition is available in two body styles and two seating configurations. There’s the standard model and the extended version called the Max. All versions come with eight seats as standard but there is a seven-seat option that gives the second-row a pair of captain's chairs instead of a sliding bench.
The powertrain combination is the familiar 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 with a 10-speed automatic that's used in most of Ford’s full-sized vehicles. It’s good for 400hp and 651Nm of torque, but there is a choice to get a high-output version of that same engine.

For that, you’ll have to go for the off-road-focused Tremor. Choose this variant and power rises to 440hp and 691Nm, but the power upgrade isn’t the only upgrade the Expedition Tremor gets. It gains underbody protection, integrated auxiliary lights, a unique suspension arrangement, and additional ground clearance that brings it up to 270mm.
So, for full-size SUV fans out there, would you like to see the Ford Expedition return to the Philippines? Before it was pulled out of the local market, it remained a popular choice for those who want their SUVs jumbo-sized. The last version sold here was the pre-facelift fourth generation model. Granted, these things aren't the most well suited for our roads, but we think it’s high time Ford Philippines brings it back.
