The Honda Civic Type R is easily the halo car of the lineup. Packing over 300hp and 430Nm of torque, it is, by far, the punchiest vehicle that currently wears the H badge. Until the NSX makes a comeback, it’s the hot hatch that sits at the top.

The thing is, it only applies if you live outside China. Over there, the most powerful Honda in the range isn’t the much-loved hot hatch. In fact, it looks nothing like a performance car. No, that honor goes to a pair of electric crossovers, the Honda P7 and S7.

The P7 and S7 are part of Honda’s Ye series. And no, it’s not related to a certain hip hop artist. The midsize EV crossover has officially been released to the market in China, and the specs have been revealed. It made for pretty interesting reading, too.

We won’t keep you waiting for long. Thanks to dual electric motors, the Honda P7 and S7 put out 469hp and 745Nm. With that much power and grip from its all-wheel drive system, it does the 0 to 100kph sprint in a mere 4.6 seconds. For reference, the Civic Type R does the same task in about 5.5 seconds.

It seems that these models are exclusive to the Chinese market. That said, the Ye models are part of Honda’s carbon zero initiative, along with the 0 Series that will soon roll out within the decade.

Other highlights? It rides on active suspension and torque vectoring for a sportier drive. Battery capacity is rated at a sizable 89.8kWh, giving it a range of 650km, at least according to the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle or CLTC. Inside, there’s a whopping 41.9-inch display smack dab in the middle of the dash, and it uses cameras instead of side mirrors.
