The off-roader package movement is going wild over in the US. Toyota has TRD Pro, Hyundai has XRT, Subaru has Wilderness, while Honda has Trailsport. At the moment, Honda’s Trailsport series is available in the Pilot, Passport, and Ridgeline, but another model has just received the same treatment.

That model is the ever so popular Honda CR-V. Yes, even this compact crossover is now available with an off-road package…but only for the North American market. The last bit is a bit of a bummer, but hey, at least Honda made it.

It’s not just a cosmetic package, either. True to the Trailsport spirit, this version of the CR-V gets some upgrades to make it more capable on the rough stuff. While it’s safe to say that most CR-V owners won’t venture in extreme terrain, the Trailsport has all the potential to appeal to adventurers, whether urban or off-road.

For starters, it comes standard with all-terrain tires; a set of Continental CrossContact ATR tires, to be exact. Because of its thicker profile, there’s also a slight increase in ground clearance. Honda didn’t stop there, though, as it gets a unique tuning for its RealTime all-wheel drive system. The one fitted to the Trailsport can mimic a limited slip differential by sending power to the wheels that need it that most.

Of course, it gets a more rugged appearance inside and out. The wheel design is unique to this variant, and it gets silver bumper garnishes, and gloss black trims. The Trailsport also has an exclusive color option called Ash Green Metallic. Inside, the TrailSport logo embroidered on the front seat headrests and molded onto the rubber floor mats. The cabin is also brightened by amber ambient lighting instead of the usual blue or red.

But it’s not just the Trailsport that’s big news for the Honda CR-V. For the North American model at least, there are a slew of updates for this crossover. The 2026 model year adds larger touchscreen, wireless charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility standard across the range. The Sport Touring variant, the equivalent of the RS in North America, gets a customizable driving mode dubbed Individial.

What’s unchanged are the engines. It’s exactly the same as what we get here so it’s a choice between a 1.5-liter turbo or 2.0-liter hybrid. Power figures are retained at 190hp and 240Nm for the turbo, and 204hp and 335Nm for the hybrid. All-wheel drive is available for both powertrains, although the Trailsport only comes in one configuration. In this case, it’s hybrid power with all-wheel drive.
