One can say that full-size SUVs have no place in the Philippine market. They’re massive, unwieldy, and ill-suited for our tight roads. Despite all that, the local market just can’t get enough of them. Even we will admit that these behemoths have a certain charm and appeal to them.
If you need any more proof that Pinoys love them, just take a look at all the Toyota Land Cruisers and Nissan Patrols roaming the streets. You also have the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban as other options. Some are even willing to go the grey market route by getting a Toyota Sequoia, Lincoln Navigator, GMC Yukon, or Cadillac Escalade.

Which is why it was a bit of a mystery why the Ford Expedition was pulled out of the Philippine market. Prior to its discontinuation, it remained a popular choice for those looking for a high-riding land yacht. The last version sold here was the pre-facelift fourth generation model.
Now, there’s an all-new model on the horizon, and it’s genuinely piqued our interest. Ford recently showed a teaser photo of the redesigned SUV, giving us a good idea of what the front end might look like.

C-shaped lights are a signature of Ford trucks and SUVs these days, and the next-gen Expedition will be no exception. It’s lit up by LEDs, of course, and runs the entire width of the front end. We also see a honeycomb pattern on its grille, along with a small section of its bumper. To top it all off is the word Expedition plastered on the edge of the hood.
That’s all Ford is showing for the fifth-generation Expedition for now. However, we might see some parts of its body to share some similarities with its more luxurious brother, the Lincoln Navigator. We’re also expecting a proper split tailgate, a first for this SUV, just like the Lincoln.
We don’t have to wait much longer for the full reveal. The redesigned Ford Expedition will make its world premiere on October 3, 2024. Of course, that’s in the US meaning we’ll see first photos of it the following day.
