In May 2011, Ford announced that it would bring the Focus ST high-performance hatchback for the first time to Asia and North America. It has been almost four years since, and yet Ford Philippines has never let on that it will bring the model to our shores. Well, the American carmaker is once again making noise about finally launching another high-performance model globally, only this time it’s the even hotter Focus RS.
"To earn the RS badge, the vehicle has to be a no-compromise driver's car that can deliver exceptional performance on the track when required while providing excellent everyday driving," said Ford Group vice president for global product development Raj Nair.
Apart from the Focus RS, Ford has also announced that it is launching more than 12 new performance vehicles for enthusiasts globally through 2020, as "part of the company's plan to deliver more performance vehicles, parts and accessories to customers around the world--more quickly--through a new global Ford Performance team."
"Ford remains committed to innovation through performance," Nair added. "Through our global Ford Performance team that ties together racing, performance vehicles, and parts, we can more quickly bring to market products and accessories that meet the needs of customers around the world on-road and on the track."
Since the Focus ST never found its way onto our shores, are you still hopeful that Ford Philippines can bring the Focus RS to our market?
