A few months ago, BMW Philippines teased the arrival of the 530e PHEV along with the 330e M Sport PHEV on its Facebook page. Recently, homologation papers for the two sedans surfaced from the Land Transportation Office. Upon checking BMW’s website for its updated price list, lo and behold, the 530e was already there listed for P5,198,000, while the 330e M Sport was listed for P4,198,000.
The 530e is one of two main plug-in hybrid models in BMW’s 5-Series family, the other being the 550e xDrive. The 530e features a turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine paired with an electric motor delivering a combined output of 299hp and 477Nm of torque.
It has a 0-100kph time of 6.3sec, an electric-only range of around 105km, and different drive modes for when you want an economical ride or a more spirited one. Shifting is handled by an eight-speed automatic transmission, though you do have paddle shifters when you want to change gears yourself.

The 330e M Sport, meanwhile, also sports a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine and electric motor combination delivering 292hp and 420Nm of torque. Shifting is also taken care of by an eight-speed automatic.
For dimensions, the 530e is listed at 5,060mm long, 1,900mm wide, and 1,515mm tall, with a 2,995mm wheelbase. The smaller 330e measures 4,713mm long, 1,827mm wide, and 1,446mm tall, with a wheelbase of 2,815mm.
