As part of a flurry of updates to its model lineup, the BMW i4—basically an electric 4 Series Gran Coupe - is getting an even faster top-spec model. There’s that, along with more efficient batteries for the entry-level cars.
Said top-spec is now dubbed the M60 xDrive. It replaces the old M50 and, in accordance with the bigger number, gets a 56hp boost to make for a Gran total of 593hp. 0-100kph is sorted in 3.7sec—two-tenths off the pace of the equivalent combustion-powered M4 Competition.

Then there’s the eDrive35 (282hp) and eDrive40 (335hp) starter packs, which come with more effective silicon carbide bits on their batteries. As such, energy consumption drops by 4.5 percent on each to unlock an extra 22km of juice. That’s now 509km between recharges for the 35, while the 40 gets a much fruitier 607km.
