Hold on, didn’t we just get the updated BYD Atto 3? Well, yes, but over in its home market of China, the compact EV crossover gets an even more comprehensive upgrade. Likely for the 2026 model year for export markets, the new Atto 3 gets a refreshed exterior, along with the possibility of a new advanced driver assist system.
Dubbed the Yuan Plus in China, the new Atto 3 gets a reshaped front bumper. The corners have been smoothened out, along with a more aggressive air intake design. These changes appear to be made for aerodynamic reasons to enhance range.

Speaking of aero, the new wheel design get the same treatment. A larger section of it is covered this time around. That said, it’s unknown if the new wheels apply to all variants. Also new is the D-pillar design, getting rid of the ‘floating roof’ look from the current version.

As for the rear, it gets redesigned tail light clusters. Its LEDs feature a ‘criss-cross’ design that’s similar to the similarly facelifted Dolphin that’s now out in China. Also, the rear bumper has been reshaped while the rear spoiler integrates a pair of sportier-looking third brake lights.
One subtle change on the outside is the repositioning of its front camera and sensors. It’s likely that the new Atto 3 will receive the ‘God’s Eye’ driver assist system. We also see more sensors by the upper half of the windshield, further supporting that possibility.

Based on documents from the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), the powertrain options will be the same as before. Battery options include a 50.25kWh or 60.48kWh unit, while output is retained at 201hp and 310Nm.
Can we expect this model to land here soon? Given that the BYD Atto 3 is the country’s best-selling EV, we wouldn’t be surprised if it eventually lands here. As for when, that’s still up in the air.
