Another month, another BYD launch. It seems that these folks have no shortage of cars to launch in the country. Well, we can expect another as the company has released yet another teaser of a new model coming here soon.
Some of our readers might easily see through the dimly-lit image. For those who know, yes, that’s the BYD eMax 7, and it’s only a matter of time before it makes its way to showrooms. Seriously, how many more BYD launches are we getting this year?

This might be the next-generation Nissan X-Trail
That aside, the eMax 7 will be BYD’s entry in the competitive midsize MPV market. There are a couple of things you need to know about it. One, the LTO papers have already been filed for it, so it shouldn’t be much of a surprise anymore. More importantly, we’ve seen in it the metal at the Bangkok International Motor Show.

The BYD eMax 7 is also known as the Song Max in its home market of China, and M6 in some parts of the world. The one we saw in Thailand was badged as an M6. Locally, there might be two variants, name the seven-seat Standard and six-seat Superior Captain.
LTO papers have suggested that this MPV will not be a plug-in hybrid. Instead of the now familiar DM-i system, it will be a full electric vehicle. Based on the files, it will have a range of up to 530km in the Superior Captain version, and 420km for the Standard. The latter makes a little less power at 161hp, while the range topper puts out 201 hp.

So, when will it likely come out? Given that the Manila International Auto Show is just around the corner, we’re hedging out bets there.
