It’s official folks: The Ford Mustang GTD’s dry-sumped 5.2-liter supercharged V8 will send 804hp and 899Nm of torque to its rear wheels, making it not just the fastest production Mustang yet, but Ford’s most powerful car ever. That engine will also redline at 7,650rpm en route to a top speed of 325kph. Impressive.
The straight-line stats alone make this a very serious car, and that’s before you factor in the tricked-out suspension, the carbon-ceramic stoppers, and the semi-active dampers. Ford has pulled out all the stops for this thing to achieve one goal: a sub-7min Nürburgring lap time.

For perspective, the current-generation 911 GT3 RS—perhaps the strictest, most no-compromise track-focused machine on the planet right now—can circle the Green Hell in 6min 49.3sec. So, while Ford’s anoraks are adamant their car will break seven minutes, the real target will be to see just how close it’ll get to the RS.
And should it do so, we reckon the list of 7,500 US residents who applied for one may swell even further...despite Ford only planning to build 1,000 GTDs. And since this is being labeled as an actual ‘supercar,’ its $325,000 price tag (around P18.1 million before taxes) seems fitting, too.
Think the Mustang has a chance against the 911?
