Exactly 60 years after the release of the original, Shelby American is bringing back the GT350 and GT350R badges with these seventh-gen modified Ford Mustangs. Who’s up for some good old-fashioned noise and smoke?
Both cars feature the 5.0-liter Whipple supercharged ‘Coyote’ V8 from the regular Mustang, though power has been significantly increased from 447hp to 840hp in the 350R. That’s an 88% increase. In fact, the last car to wear a GT350R badge produced over 300hp less. Shelby hasn't revealed a 0-100 kph time, but the standard Mustang does it in 4.6sec.

Other features specific to the 350R include adjustable racing struts and a new set of shocks to complement the stiffer chassis setup, plus Alcon racing brakes to tame all that power. There’s also plenty of extra carbon fiber attached to the more aggressive body, including the hood, the rocker panels, and the ducktail rear wing.

The interior gets a mild refresh as well, gaining even more carbon fiber along with a four-point roll cage. Ford’s original 12.4-inch digital display and 13.2-inch touchscreen should remain.

If all this seems a bit over the top for you, there’s a slightly tamer 820hp in the 350. That’s still more power than a McLaren Senna, though. It also gets a set of lowering springs to retain the 350R’s aggressive stance, plus a cat-back Borla exhaust and 20-inch forged alloys, accompanied by vintage striping.
The 350 currently starts at $109,995 (P6.43 million before taxes), with the price for the 350R yet to be confirmed.
