Since its formal relaunch in our market in September last year, Geely Philippines has already sold 524 units with the Coolray subcompact crossover as its sole offering. Of that total, 295 units were sold in the period covering January to April 2020.
The Azkarra mild-hybrid crossover, the Chinese carmaker’s second offering in the Philippines, already landed on our shores in March. We’ve already written about its variants and prices—check out the story here, in case you missed it. Now, Geely distributor Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP) has announced that the Azkarra will be formally introduced to the public on May 30 at 6pm, via a ‘full-production digital automobile launch’ that will be streamed via its official website, Facebook page, and YouTube channel.
The mobile launch, which will take viewers through the details of the Azkarra’s design, engineering, and interior and exterior features, is Geely’s way of reaching out to more customers in the so-called ‘new normal’ conditions. The company likewise reiterates its commitment to producing healthier cars, and as a first step to fulfilling this, it has equipped all models sold locally with CN95 cabin filters to prevent the spread of microbial particles and virus-carrying droplets.
Ahead of the Azkarra launch, Geely has also confirmed the turnover of a second batch of surgical masks to the Philippine government. In March, the carmaker donated 20,000 pieces of surgical masks to the Department of Health. The second shipment to the Philippines comprises 100,000 pieces, or half of the total 200,000 pieces donated by the Geely Holding Group and Li Shufu Charity Foundation to different countries in Asia.
