The little hurdles aside, the Geely Coolray is perhaps one of the more solid choices in the subcompact crossover segment. It’s a solid performer with a price tag that offers a strong value proposition, and the car itself is (almost) hard to fault.
However, there is one thing we wish it had. Mind you, it might not be a huge deal for some, but there is a small matter of its infotainment system. Not that it’s bad or anything, it’s actually easy to use and intuitive.

But there is a certain feature that’s missing here, and it’s the only downside we can think of in the Coolray’s infotainment. That’s would be the lack of Apple CarPlay and/or Android Auto. Call us shallow, but just about every car has it standard these days. Sure, it has a built-in app that allows you to mirror you phone to the screen, but Apple CarPlay and Android Auto takes out all the fuss and simplifies that process.
Now, it seems that Geely has finally found a way to install it in their cars for the export market. Recently, the Chinese automaker entered the Mexican market with the Coolray. One of its features is Apple CarPlay, and that makes us hope that the next batch of models coming here will finally get it.
That said, there was no mention of Android Auto, but having one of the two major smartphone connectivity applications is a start. But it’s not just the Coolray that finally gets that system. The Proton version of the Geely Emgrand comes equipped with it too, although it seems Proton used its own software in this case. Still, better than not having it at all.
So, will the Philippine models finally get this vital feature? We don’t see why not. Besides, the company has shown that it can do it after all.
