Let’s play word association, shall we? When we say Passion Orange, you say…
If you said Honda Civic SiR, you’re one of the millions who probably thought of it. That color has long been associated with the sport sedan, and an icon in its own right.

Honda still paints their cars orange, of course. It’s by a different name now, and it’s usually an option for its sporty or funky-styled models. Dubbed Phoenix Orange Pearl, it’s now made its way to the City.

Yes, you read that right. The humble City gets this rather extroverted color. It’s up for debate if it suits the car, but it’s an amusing sight, nonetheless. It’s only available in Malaysia for now, and only for the top spec RS variant.
More specifically, it’s for the RS e:HEV. Yes, the electrified City is also offered in Malaysia, and it’s a spec we’d like to see here, too. For those who are curious, it uses the same hardware as the HR-V RS e:HEV. That means a 1.5-liter Atkinson Cycle engine mated to an electric motor. The result is 129hp and 253Nm.
But for those who prefer the City with the tail chopped off, Phoenix Orange Pearl is also available for the hatchback. Unlike the sedan, the color can be applied to both e:HEV and 1.5 RS trims, so there’s a little more variety there. But whether you get the four-door or five-door, you’re not going to get SiR levels of performance.
So, what are the odds of this color coming to the Philippines? Probably slim to none. See, Honda has its own plant in Malaysia, and Honda Cars Philippines sources City units from Thailand. Honda Cars Thailand doesn’t offer orange, either, pretty much sealing its chances of coming here.
