A couple of years ago, Honda began sales of its electric SUV in China, the e:NP1 and e:NS1. We were eventually able to try it out in Japan, and shortly after, it finally made its way to Thailand. Now, there’s a second model that’s been added to that range: the e:NP2/e:NS2.
These model names don’t really roll off the tongue, do they? Anyway, the new vehicles were launched at the ongoing 2024 Beijing Motor Show, with sales of the e:NP2 beginning today as confirmed by Honda’s joint venture in China, GAC Honda. The e:NS2, meanwhile, will be sold starting in June under another joint venture in Dongfeng Honda.

The e:NP2 and e:NS2 don’t look too far off from the e:NP1 and e:NS1. The new EVs boast much more aggressive-looking exteriors, with the e:NP2 featuring claw-like headlights and the e:NS2 getting almost T-shaped lamps.
Not a lot of specifics were released yet, although Honda confirmed that the new e:NP2 will offer a maximum range of about 545km, or about 35km more than that of the e:NP1. Both new EVs will get an advanced suite of tech on the inside including a 12.8-inch infotainment system with Honda Connect 4.0. Both will also get Honda’s new Intelligent Heating System that minimizes power consumption of the A/C system.

Honda plans to introduce a total of 10 Honda-branded EVs in China by 2027, and as of this writing, it’s a fifth of the way there. The carmaker also aims for EVs to account for 100% of its sales in that market by 2035.
What do you think of these new electric Hondas, folks? Would you like to see them in our market someday?
