Logo changes are a huge deal for any automaker. After all, it’s representative of the brand and serves as an identifying mark at a passing glance. A logo redesign must also be immediately recognizable and leave a lasting impression.
More recently, several companies have opted to go for a flatter and simpler monochrome look. Some examples include Nissan, Volkswagen, and Ford. That said, there are some that have gone for a more dramatic update, namely Kia. Now, it’s Honda who will have a bit of a logo change.

Starting 2027, all Honda models equipped with a hybrid powertrain will wear a new badge. The Japanese automaker took inspiration from its first logo that spanned until 1969. But that’s not the only reason why it looks familiar. The new look was previewed over a year ago when Honda said it will apply it to their electric vehicles. Per the company, it’s meant to resemble two outstretched hands, so there’s more to it than just a throwback.
With the inclusion of electrified vehicles, we’ll be seeing a lot more of these in about two years. After all, just about every Honda model is available with e:HEV technology. That said, we’re curious if non-hybrid versions of the same car will stick to the current and very familiar badge.

At the same time, we wonder if performance cars like the Civic Type R will also don the new retro logo. Unless it’ll go hybrid by 2027 and beyond, it might be safe to assume that it will stick with the iconic red H.
We’ll see the new logo starting next year once the first of the 0 Series electric vehicles roll out. At the same time, Honda said that it will roll out 13 all-new hybrid models starting in 2027, once of which might include the next-generation Civic.
