When the Honda Prelude Concept was shown during the 2023 Japan Mobility Show, we were genuinely surprised. In a world where coupes are far from huge sellers, it was a bold statement from the brand. Of course, the company also said that it was putting it into production.
After years of teasers and prototype drives, we finally know when the showroom version will make its world premiere. Ladies and gentlemen, the revived Prelude will finally be revealed come September 2025. There’s no exact date yet, but it’s not that long of a wait anymore.

Honda itself is pretty excited about its first Prelude in decades. The sports coupe will get a first edition variant dubbed the ON Edition. As far as we can tell, the only main difference is the black roof, but there could be some goodies inside.
Interestingly, Honda has even shown official interior photos of the car. It still follows the brand’s philosophy of Man Maximum, Machine Minimum, so it’s all about flat lines, a logically arranged dashboard, and, joy of joys, buttons and dials. It looks identical to the Civic, but not totally.
Some key details of the upcoming Honda Prelude were also given. We can say that it has a hybrid system lifted from the Civic, CR-V, and Accord, and that it will use a different kind of CVT. It was also mentioned that the suspension will benefit from bits found in the Civic Type R.
The odds of the Prelude coming to the country appear promising. The car is currently being presented at the (at the time of writing) ongoing Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show. It’s the first time the car is being displayed in Southeast Asia, so one can say that Honda has some intention of selling it in the region.
