Hyundai Motor Philippines has been impressively active this year, and it looks like the Korean carmaker isn’t done yet.
After three new releases, there is a good chance that the brand will be launching the electrified version of the Palisade next, as the SUV has just been added to the Department of Energy’s list of recognized EVs.

The Palisade nameplate hasn’t seen Philippine roads for a few years now, but back in its home market of South Korea, it has undergone several developments. With an all-new look that turns up the grandeur, the Palisade has ditched its diesel powertrain and now features a 2.5-liter turbocharged hybrid setup with V2L capabilities. The database from the DOE also reveals a more traditional 3.5-liter V6, and we wouldn’t be surprised if HMPH brought that in as well.

We first got a look at this generation Palisade on a recent trip to Seoul, and it impressed us with its premium feel, thanks to Hyundai’s choice of materials. We didn’t get to drive it, but the double-walled glass suggests a quiet and peaceful ride.
At the Manila International Motor Show earlier this year, HMPH brought out three variants of the Elantra sedan that featured both performance and electrified powerplants. And for the new Creta, there are four variants for car buyers to choose from. HMPH isn’t shy on options, and we aren’t complaining.
With the recent release of the Kona Hybrid, it also shows that the brand may have an interest in reviving nameplates, but with electrified or more varied options. And adding the Palisade Hybrid would bolster HMPH’s competitiveness in the SUV market, alongside the Santa Fe and Tucson, both of which pack hybrid options.
