Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) continues to expand its electrified lineup. This time around, it’s the Staria that gets the hybrid treatment.

It’s been a long time coming, as this hybrid variant was first unveiled more than two years ago. It now enters the market with fuel prices at an all-time high, and electrified offerings are at a dime a dozen.

As was indicated earlier, there are different seat layouts available for the Staria, but all of them are hybrids as standard. They’re all powered by the same 1.6-liter turbo gasoline hybrid setup that produces a total of 242hp—this is similar to what the Santa Fe HEV and Tucson HEV have. This electrified powertrain is mated to a six-speed automatic. Hyundai claims that the Staria HEV can do up to 17.7km/L.

As far as extra tech goes, the Staria HEV comes standard with a 12.3-inch infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and a six-speaker setup, a 4.2-inch digital instrument cluster, front and rear parking sensors, a reversing camera, a tire-pressure monitoring system, and cruise control. Exclusive to the Premium and Premium Plus variants are the bigger 12.3-inch instrument cluster, 12-speaker Bose setup, 360-degree-view camera, side parking sensors, and advanced driver aids like adaptive cruise control, blind-spot collision-avoidance assist with view monitor, and forward collision warning with autonomous emergency braking.

“The Staria is one of the most iconic nameplates in our current lineup, completing our Hybrid range while carrying a legacy Filipinos trust,” said HMPH president Jiho Son. ”Building on the STAREX’s role in family life, we are proud to be launching the Staria Hybrid which brings a more connected, comfortable experience for modern and practical Filipino families.”
