For those who already know it, or even bought one already, this is fairly old news. The thing is, it flew under the radar for so long and we reckon it deserves some attention. Admittedly, the Hyundai Staria isn’t a totally new van, but there was an addition to the variant list.
That would be the nine-seater version of the top-spec Staria, the Premium AWD. It was silently introduced late last year, and it’s ideal for those want extra seats in the plushest Hyundai van available. It’s a big deal, especially since the there was a time it was ‘only’ available with seven seats.
Okay, we’ll get a few things out of the way first. From the outside, it looks exactly like any Staria Premium AWD. It gets the two-tone wheels, rose gold trims, and a generally more luxurious design. Good news then for those who like the looks of the Premium variant but need two more seats.

Obviously, the highlight is the seating configuration. You’ll be glad to know that the captain’s chairs still remain. However, the ‘Relaxation Seats’ have been deleted, along with the leg rests and ventilation function. In its place is a swivel function to create an ‘office space’ of sorts.
The extra seats are placed behind the second-row captain’s chairs, and the third row gets individual seating as well. Because of the layout, access is easy as it forms a center aisle for fourth-row occupants. It’s safe to say that Hyundai isn’t squeeze in the seats there and actually make a useable and comfortable area.
Powertrains are carried over from the seven-seater, though. We’re not complaining as it’s the familiar 2.2-liter turbodiesel mill. It’s good for 175hp and 431Nm, more than enough to motivate this plush van. In case you missed the headline, this variant comes with all-wheel drive, along with an eight-speed automatic.
The price? The nine-seater is less expensive than the seven-seater, ringing in at P2,830,000. As for the rest of the prices, check out the list below.
