It could be said that we’re now in the next wave of midsize SUVs. Also known as pickup platform vehicles (PPVs), it was kicked off by the second-generation Isuzu Mu-X when it made its world premiere back in October 2020.
Since then, its rivals have either received major updates or, in the case of the Ford Everest, a full model change. With all-new versions of the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Montero Sport on the horizon, the Mu-X is far from the newest kid on the block.

To combat the tide, the Isuzu Mu-X received a minor model change in late 2022. That version eventually landed in the country in early 2023. Not content with that, Isuzu Thailand has released teaser images of the second facelift model and said it’s ‘coming soon.’
Yes, it’s barely been two years since the first update, but the competition ahead is expected to get even tougher. In the teaser, you won’t see much other than a new light signature and, interestingly, a new variant.

What’s the new variant, you ask? It’s called the RS, and no, Honda doesn’t have exclusive rights to those two letters. Ditto with Porsche and Audi. Anyway, we could expect a sharper look with this model, perhaps some unique styling details as well. It’s possible that Isuzu is adopting Toyota’s strategy of applying two different and distinct exteriors for one model line. Need an example? Just take a look at the standard Fortuner and the ‘LTD look’.
So, when is the exact launch date? As mentioned, Isuzu Thailand isn’t mentioning anything. However, Thai motoring site Autospinn claims it might be as early as June 12.
Watch this space, then.
