After making a splash at the 2024 Bangkok International Motor Show in April, it looks like the Kia EV5’s next stop is the Philippines.

Globally unveiled in China last year, the EV5 slides right in the middle of Kia’s EV lineup in terms of size, performance, and price. In the local market, the only available EV from the Korean carmaker is the EV6 performance crossover. The seven-seater EV9 is scheduled to debut at the 2024 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) later this week.

So, back to the EV5. According to the homologation papers just published by the Land Transporation Office (LTO), the middle child of the electric Kia family can achieve a maximum range of up to 530km and a top speed of 185kph. Those numbers make the EV5 a modest but capable option—buyers of five-seat electric crossovers like the BYD Sealion 6 and the MG 4 will have another car to think about when the time comes.

The EV5 measures 4,615mm long, 1,875mm wide, and 1,715mm tall. It’s powered by a single electric motor that puts out 215hp and 310Nm of torque.

Upon its debut in Thailand, the EV5 was listed between 1.249 million to 1.749 million Thai baht (P2.15 million to P3.02 million), depending on the variant. From the maximum range listed by the LTO, it looks the Kia is sending the mid-tier AWD Long Drive variant to the Philippines, and so the price should fall in the middle, too.
