March 2024 saw the official introduction of Lynk & Co in the Philippines. The brand is a result of Volvo and Geely's partnership with all its models having input from each other. Distributed by United Asia Automotive Group, Inc. (UAAGI), the Swedish-Chinese automaker dips its toes in the highly competitive crossover market.

The 2024 Manila International Auto Show marks the brand’s public debut. There, it showcased three of the models it offers for the Philippines. These are the (simply dubbed) 06, 05, and 01.

It may have a higher number, but the 06 is actually the entry-level model. It’s up against the likes of the Toyota Yaris Cross, Honda HR-V, and Geely Coolray. Interestingly, the 06 and Coolray are closely related, sharing the same platform and mechanical components.

By mechanical components, we mean the engine. The 06 is powered by a 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine that makes 175hp and 265Nm of torque. It then shifts with a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Sound familiar?

As for technical highlights,  540-degree camera, six airbags, and a host of advanced driver assist systems such as adaptive cruise control and autonomous emergency braking. The 06 starts at P1.488 million for the Hyper Pro trim and is priced at P1.598 million for the higher Hyper Halo variant.

Moving to the 01, it serves as Lynk & Co’s flagship model in the Philippines and a technical showcase of what it can do. Unlike the 06 that uses a Geely platform, the 01 gets its bones straight from Volvo. It uses the same architecture as the Volvo XC40, the BMA platform, to be exact.

Underneath its quirky and off-beat exterior is a plug-in hybrid system. Before you ask, yes, that exempts it from the number coding scheme in Metro Manila as it can run on pure electric power. Its powertrain packs some serious numbers, too, with its 1.5-liter turbo and electric motor pumping out 258hp. An EV range of up to 69km should help increase range and lessen fuel bills.

The 01’s techy personal carries over inside. There's a fully digital instrument cluster and a 12.7-inch infotainment touchscreen display that houses entertainment and vehicle functions. Of course, advanced driver assist systems are fitted standard. Volvo did have a hand in developing this car, after all. As for pricing, it retails for P2.338 million.

The third model in the lineup is the 05, an all-wheel-drive fastback that packs a punch. It’s powered by a Drive-E 2.0TD T5 engine that puts out 251hp and 350Nm of torque and is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. It can supposedly do 0-100kph in just 6.7sec. It’s the most expensive car in the range, stickering for P2.748 million.

Lynk & Co’s models come with a five-year/150,000km warranty on the vehicle and an eight-year/200,000km warranty on the motors, batteries, and electric control systems. You can check out the brand’s full price list below.
