The compact SUV market has gotten busy in the past year, with one big introduction after the other. Now, it’s Mazda’s turn to bring in its segment competitor: the next-generation CX-5.
The all-new Mazda CX-5 debuts with bigger proportions, updated looks, and a new hybrid powertrain. The popular crossover has grown—115mm longer, 15mm wider, and 30mm taller, to be exact. Its wheelbase has also been extended by 115mm, so you can expect more legroom inside the cabin. But more on that later.
The all-new CX-5 retains that signature Kodo design philosophy, but with a few refinements on the exterior. There’s still a chrome trim outlining the grille, but said grille is placed slightly higher, and it’s now enclosed by gloss-black plastics. Flanking these are the new headlights with those snazzy DRLs. Out back, the taillights extend further towards the middle of the tailgate, where ‘Mazda’ is now spelled out and embossed in place of the badge.

Over on the inside, it’s as premium as ever. Mazda claims this interior embodies the Japanese aesthetic principle of Ma, which prioritizes space, balance, and harmony. This has resulted in “an uncluttered, spacious cabin that is serene and functional.” By the looks of it, we won’t argue with that.
Peep the steering wheel, and you’ll also notice the Mazda name embossed at the center, mimicking the execution on the tailgate. Centered on the dash is the 15.6-inch infotainment system mated to a 12-speaker Bose sound system with Perceptual Sound Rendering. The audio setup is supposedly tuned to the CX-5’s cabin acoustics.
This display is complemented by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster with a head-up display for the driver. Of course, the full Mazda i-Activsense suite is available here, including features like blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, adaptive cruise control, emergency lane-keeping, and front and rear smart brake support.
Lest we forget, the engine: Under the hood of the all-new Mazda CX-5 HEV is a new 2.5-liter e-Skyactiv-G powertrain. It produces 179hp and 242Nm of torque, with peak power delivered sooner at 5,000rpm. Torque output under 4,500rpm, meanwhile, has also been improved by 19%. This electrified setup is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission that promises smoother and crisper transitions depending on the load and driver preference.
In addition to the new hybrid engine, Mazda has also made updates to the chassis and suspension. Not to get too technical, but the tweaks Mazda has done were aimed at improving overall comfort and handling.

Now on its third generation, the all-new Mazda CX-5 combines a more intuitive human-machine interface with the same emotional appeal that defines the brand, expressed through Jinba-Ittai driving dynamics and Kodo design, while enhancing everyday comfort through improved packaging and ride quality. It meets the demands of daily commuting while remaining versatile enough for weekend travel or family use.”
The all-new Mazda CX-5 HEV is now available in the Philippines for P2.495 million. Color options for the CX-5 include Soul Red Crystal, Rhodium White, Machine Gray, Jet Black, Aero Gray, and Navy Blue Mica—that last one is new for the lineup.
From the launch up to September 30, 2026, the all-new CX-5 is also available with zero-interest plans for up to 36 months through EastWest Bank, Security Bank, and BDO.
