McLaren has revealed a pair of 750S supercars exclusive to the Land of the Rising Sun that honor the McLaren F1 GTR’s triumph in the 1996 Japan Grand Touring Car Championship. Welcome the new 750S ‘JC96.’
In the hands of David Brabham and John Neilsen, that F1 GTR won the 1996 JGTC drivers’ title, and so this new car tips its carbon fiber hat via a paint job inspired by the old timer’s livery. That includes a new version of the GTR’s famous ‘tiger stripe’ design.
You’ll notice this JC96 car looks different from your not-at-all-average 750S, and you’re right, because as standard it wears MSO’s ‘High Downforce Kit.’ Using all our detective skills, we’d put good money on that being a kit that increases the downforce on the 750S, via: a new front bumper with a bigger splitter, a taller active rear spoiler with endplates, and a curved under-wing panel.

McLaren said it offers 10% more downforce versus a non-HDK car, and for the JC96, it’s being offered for the first time on the 750S Spider, too.
What’s also being offered across both are a set of “ultra lightweight” 15-spoke forged alloys featuring a design inspired by those on the longtail F1 GTRs. Inside, you’ll find lots of Alcantara, F1-inspired pedals, embroidered headrests, ambient lighting, titanium, and a plaque.
And while this JC96 is already exclusive—just 61 will be built, because 61 is the race number of the winning F1 GTR—its Japanese clientele will be able to further personalise their car via MSO. Not the drivetrain, mind: That remains a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with 740hp and the ability to warp speed from 0-299kph like a hypercar.
