The all-electric Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen is set to arrive in the country later this year as confirmed by Inchcape Philippines. Also known as the Mercedes-Benz G580 with EQ Technology, its eventual availability will mark the second G-Wagen in the 2025 class to enter the Philippine market.
The Mercedes-Benz G450d, which packs a mild hybrid-diesel powertrain, is currently available in the Philippines for P16.99 million. The previous generation G63 AMG can also be locally purchased, but the 2025 release also includes an updated model, as well as a new G500.

The electric G580 made headlines by packing four independent motors with a 124kWh battery. That setup produced numbers like 450km in driving range, 0-100kph in under five seconds, and well over 1,000Nm of torque. All that power must’ve caught the eye of the Pope as a modified G580 serves as his Popemobile.
Having four motors also allows the G-Wagen to turn each of its wheels independently two of its wheels on one side, and the other two in the opposite direction to make a ‘G-Turn.’ Power can also be sent or depleted on just one wheel to make a sharper, more accurate turn, or a ‘G-Steer.’ These features should be useful when driving overland—it is still a G-Wagen after all.
Inchcape Philippines has yet to unveil an exact price and release date for the Mercedes-Benz G580. The automotive group currently has the release slated between the second and third quarter of the year, so we can count it out of the upcoming Manila International Auto Show.
