The mighty Mitsubishi Pajero is making a comeback. At least that’s what the latest developments say. We all know that might change again anytime soon because that’s been the story of the return of the Pajero...but we digress.

What Mitsubishi hadn’t confirmed yet, though, is what variations of the Pajero are being revived. Will it be electrified? Will there be a short wheelbase version? More important, will the Evolution badge make a comeback, too? If any of these did, we already have an idea of what it might look like. Sort of. At least based on the imagination of Filipino artist

A Filipino artist by the name of Enoch Gabriel Gonzales—whose name you might have already seen here before—previously rendered his version of the next-gen Pajero. Now, he’s turned his imagination into art yet again by rendering his version of the modern-day Pajero Evolution.

Frankly, this looks pretty good. It looks very sporty and macho and stands like a proper off-roader. I like it, though I understand how others might not be a fan of the overly aggressive-looking design. The futuristic headlights up front match well with the sharp lines of the grille and the front fascia. There’s a proper spoiler at the back for aero, and the SUV sits on rally wheels.

“I was inspired by successful SUVs that come with shorter, three-door versions like the Defender, Bronco, and Wrangler,” said Gonzales. “Since I already have a five-door Pajero to use as a base, I found it a great opportunity to create a sportier spawn and to revive the iconic nameplate ‘Pajero Evolution.’

“Like the original one, despite being carried over from the larger version, I had to revise most of the parts to make it sportier, more track-ready, and Evo-like. In fact, the only parts I kept are the hood and windshield.”

Gonzales also added a hood scoop, a skid plate, and all-terrain tires, In true Pajero Evolution fashion, there are also Ralliart mud flaps underneath. Gonzales also raised the Pajero by a bit and reworked the rear bumper to improve both departure angle and ground clearance.

This Pajero Evolution is supposedly powered by the same twin-turbo V6 engine in the all-new Patrol. While Nissan has shot down the talks about the two flagship models sharing platforms and engines, this is the simplest way we can imagine Mitsubishi going about the new Pajero, Evolution or otherwise.

What do you think of this concept, readers? Would you buy the Pajero Evolution if Mitsubishi were to rebuild it like this? Share your thoughts in the comments.
